Check the E/W drive transistor located I think on the heat sink at the front of the chassis. Also the caps in the LFB cct as they tend to change value

I Have the same problem chris your answer did help but i found that this resistor had a dry joint which was making heat, signs of heat on pcb,tried re soldering same but picture more stayble,same problem, I have taken resistor out looks in good are you sure it 2.7 ohm as its rings are red,green,orange,gold. thanks

Hi Yes.
Your set has east/west fault very common problem.
Im trying to remember what chasis your set has if ita AK19 or 11AK19 problem will be 2.7ohm resistor to the left of flyback transformer gone open cicuit & check all polyester hv caps for dry joints.
