Mend GE WCXR1070A1WW Agitate Belt Motor

GE washer won't spin or agitate?

Model wcxr1070a1ww. Washer made a loud noise then quit in the middle of the spin cycle. Washer was used and already very noisy. Took off front panel and saw what looks to be ball bearing parts loose on the bottom panel. Belt's fine, motor works and spins both pulleys in the wash and spin cycles but no action in the tub. Don't see any oil leaks. Transmission problem?

My GE washer just did the same thing yesterday. I pulled it apart and it appears that they came out of something connected to the bottom of the transmission. I looked around to see if I could just replace the part where the bearings came out of (the brake Assembly?) and it appears that I have to replace the whole transmission.
