the picture wont come on but the sound does?

You have to make a decision - do you try to get it repaired or do you cut your losses and buy a new TV?

Asking on here for advice about repairing a "no picture" TV is futile. Even if the question were in the TV section and even if people knew the make and model they could only guess at the problem.

Somebody with the circuit drawings might be able to guide you through a fault finding and repair exercise but you would need some test equipment and the ability to use it to be able to answer questions.

All you can practically do is to unplug it, remove the covers and look for anything obvious, internal fuse blown (I doubt it) loose connection between major sections (possible) obviously damaged component (perhaps) bad joint on circuit board (very unlikely and very difficult to spot).
