Problem with Whirlpool door seal?

Should the door seal on a Whirlpool AWO 3761 washing machine have a slit at the bottom, my machine is only 6 months old & has one, is it a problem or is it for drainage, please help

Well the new seal I just fitted tonight for my aging Whirlpool has a hole at the bottom - and it IS for drainage. Hope you never have to replace yours coz it's very frustrating ;-)
