No spin or waterfill for washing machine?

We have a Candy C514 Auctiva washing machine. It just stopped doing 2 things, firstly it does not spin on the spin cycle, it just turns alternatively each way like it is in a wash cycle. Secondly, on a wash cycle it does not take in water. I know the spin issue usually points to a problem with brushes but given that the wash cycle does not take water in I am wondering if it's a bigger problem. Can anyone help.....please?
