This is unacceptable in 2017! What a cock up! Who makes these flushing systems. I can murder him. What???? changing the toilet just because a stupid washer does not exist any more. Where are the old ball type flushes? give those to me anytime. I do not want anything modern and new! I want ot live in the past. HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Having the same problem with the pacific seal plus water hammer in the flow valve as it fillls up , I have tied up the valve float to stop the flow and removed the seal , smeared some silicon on it and put it back on , leaving overnight and hopefully when I peel it off the bottom of the cistern it will have formed a perfect seal!

i fitted one of these toilets when i moved into my bungalow about 16 years ago and true to form, after about 5-6 years it started to leak,i discovered lunns on the net, ordered one,for abour 30 quid at the time, which i thought was expensive as it only appeared to be the black rubber seal which had become distorted causing the problem, anyway after about the same length of time the replacement started to leak, same problem, now fortunately i hadn't thrown the original away and when i looked at it i noticed that the distorted rubber seal had gone back to its original shape,i put this one back in the cistern and its been there for about 4 years with no problem.I am waiting for this one to go again, but i have noticed the rubber in the replacement valve has also righted itself and gone back to its original shape so i now have a spare.amazing.

John Paul, did you ever find a suitable and cost effective replacement?

My toilet was working up until a week ago, then when "pop" when I pressed the flush button. All of a sudden, the syphon didn't work as expected and eventually it started leaking water into the pan. I too though that this would be a simple washer or diaphragm replacement so was kinda surprised to find that this doesn't look like an option.

Hi everybody, all your posts date back to 2009. Now jump forward to 2013 and I'm now having the same problem trying to find a Pacific flush valve, actually just the washer.

Everyone I have spoken to have said "that's a funny size" or "I've never seen one of those before". Nobody says "they don't make them like that anymore", even though they don't.

Now looking through the Internet, the only one I found was with Lunn for £54 and I thought to myself "no, no I don't think so".

It seems like I'm going to have to replace the lot, shut off the water, remove the cistern and attached the new syphon.

Did anyone managed to find the replacement ?

All this for a washer! Most ridicules and pointless problem I've ever encountered.

Slip the thin plastic seal washer off and turn it over

Spoke to technical from Polypipe Sanitary Systems - Confirmed original 'Pacific' discontinued and they will do a replacement 'Arcadia' syphon for £19.85 all in. They need to know if the hole going into to the wc is 1 and a half inches or 2 inches

I have the same problem. I found out that the syphon was manufactured by CME Polypipe. They discontined them in 2007. If you call them on 01302 792115 they will sell you an alternative that will fit into your cisten without too much hustle. Hope this is helpful.

Further to my posting last month. I got a local plumber in to fit a different syphon. Only took him 30 mins to change it. Charged me £35.... Suggest this is the best option..

Had the same problem. Found Steve at:

steve at toiletspares.co.uk

who says these are obsolete but has suggested an alternative replacement for £28.50. BUT (!) you have to take off the cistern and replace the cradle as well (the part the siphon locks into). I'm going to go for this even though it involves dismantling the cistern simply because I have been getting an AMAZING amount of grief from Mrs C who thinks these things should last forever, as the phrase 'wear and tear' does not exist in her consciousness ....

Guess what? I'm having the exact same problem. Just stripped the whole thing down... The rubber seal is worn, and causing the water to flow into the bowl.. Surley you must be able to replace this seal? It probably costs about 0.99p !! Or is a whole new toilet the only answer!!?? Has anyone tried to contact "Pacific" directly?? Where are they??

I am too having this same problem. I bought a universal replacement but it wont screw in as its too large to turn in the cistern and I dont really want to have to take the cistern off due to messing with the water supply etc.
