can not change the where the air blows out ?

I can not change from vent to defroster or to floor vent. The selector knob may not be working. When it first started I could not adjust the temprature control and the fan blew on high. The fan started working correctly then the air temprature selector started started working again, but the air outlet will still only blow out the vent. This is a very basic Dodge Ram with a 3.7 liter motor, it does have airconditioning
