Firefox has started to pause before opening a webpage?

I had a Trojan which was found in the folder used by Firefox to store my profile. I have removed it, but I think it may have changed some settings in Firefox. When I am browsing the web Firefox seems to take longer to open webpages and often pauses before it starts to open a page. Can I fix this?
