Hotpoint CTD40 is not drying clothes very well?

My hotpoint CTD40 is not drying clothes very well, you can feel the heat coming out the door, but it can be on for ages, with only a small amount of water being left in the tray and damp clothes left in the machine.
Is anyone able to help please?
