Bought a Astra diesel 1.7 dti 2000 model a few months ago went to top the water up and found oil in with the water some people said the Headgasket, some said the oil cooler, some said the injector seals. I have had the oil cooler tested put about 50 psi through it and the garage said it's ok. Anybody got any idea if it could be the head gasket or the injector seals because there's no water in the oil

Hi thanx for all ur help got it sorted now it was the `o` rings that are on the sleeve that the diesel injectors push into a common fault apparentley with the 1.7 DTI isuzu 16valve, with the right tools you don`t have to take the head off but the cam`s have to come out, £58.00 just for `o` ring`s genuine parts only. just one `o` ring seperat`s the oil pressure side to the cam`s from the water jacket in the head. Hope this might help anyone reading this thanx again, :-)

thanx i`ll get it tested but i toped the oil up and it hasnt used any since in about 100miles and still runs fine not overheating, someone said it could be the seal`s on where the diesel injectors go into the cylinder head?

Get the cylinder head gasket replaced ASAP before the reverse starts to happen i.e. water going into your oil. It is not a good idea to be driving it at all- if you loose oil pressure altogether the engine will terminally seize up within 15secs @ 30mph
