my van is stuck in second gear this happend a few years ago due to some sort of loose bolt but now its happend again but cant seem to see any sort of loose bolt please help
this problem requires a 17 mm spanner and 5 minutes of your time. Crawl under the van directly below the gear stick, you will find a plastic box with 4 or 5 spring clips on it, remove the lid. There is a bolt that holds the gear stick to the forward/back gear selector mechanism, simply tighten this bolt using said 17mm spanner, replace lid, happy motoring!

cheers joe the problem seemed to be a seized cable a bit wd40 fixed the problem with a little brute force

There will be a broken selector just under the gearstick. Best option is to source and fit a replacement box. About £80 from a decent scrappy
