Hi Alex:

I recently changed the brushes on my cleaner 1697 C with a new kit and when I took it apart one end had become disloged and was not in place anymore. After taking it apart, the new kit was not really needed but I changed it anyway. A new kit has the instructions with it. Hope this helps!
