car alarm wont turn off?

i have a ford puma and when i open the car door the alarm gos off,it allows me to turn the car engine on tho? if i lock up the car and wait 5 mins the alarm stops so does the lights on the front of my car flashing but i cant dis arm the alarm myself do i need a new fob?
