Mend AEG Hob Control Turn

My AEG Ceramic hob control knobs have become very sticky,?

The control knobs on my AEG hob have become very sticky and in some cases i can't even turn them. It seems to be a common issue as this fault is mentioned in the manual but it says to contact a service centre. Is this not something i can resolve myself to save the need for a call out?

normally the control knobs just pull off.sometimes you have to prise them with a screwdriver or a flat bladed knife.be careful not to mark hob when doing this.clean around the control and knob and push them back on
