How can I fix my Briggs & Stratton Engine 10D902 Classic 35?

My lawn mower engine starts well but will not rev up
can anyone help me please?
With the mower tipped, thats with the handle on the ground and the two front wheels off the ground,it revs well , but that doesn't help when you want to cut the grass!

Did you take Ronaldo through it on a new Post? Id like to read it.

It needs a carburettor clean, Ronaldo - but make sure the tank is kept nearly full when you want to run the machine. If the fuel tank is on the side of the engine rather than on the top, start a new post and I'll take you through it.
