Does anyone know where you can obtain a wiring diagram for a Halogen table top oven. I went to replace the element and both wiring terminals were loose with some wires detached! I am am an eletrician but a circuit would be helpful. Many Thanks

Does a halogen oven fan stay on or go on and off like the light? I bought a second hand one and the fan which was really noisy in first 15 minutes of cooking the roast stopped and its only the light thats come on and off. Lamb joint feels only warm and its cooked for well over an hour and no sign of being cooked well

I'm in the process of fixing mine as mine went kaput over the weekend.

I need to get into the assembly to get at the thermal fuse if there is one.

I will return here when I have found an answer

Its a pity they do go. I also purchased mine from Ideal World as well...

My halogen stopped working so we bought a new element for it. My husband is an electronics engineer so he fitted it in. The only problem now is that the fan only turns on when the light turns off. Previously the fan stayed on throughout the cooking.
Where did we go wrong?

I have had a halogen oven for about three years. The lamp gave out on the first one after just under a year. I took it back to T.J.ughes and they excahnged it without problem. That one was a prolectric. I exchanged it for aTeamInternational Visicook and that's been used at least twice a day for another year or but the bulb has given out again.T.J.Hughes went bankrupt a while ago so can't take it back.
I love it ,it's so economical and fast.

I went to TeamUkI and found they sell replacement cooker heads so I'm guessing this is the one flaw with halogen ovens..... the bulbs don't last longer than a year.

Try eBay (but if you live in Britain in will soon fail again) IMHO the reason for premature failures is the British 240 volt mains (usually 243 volts at my house) Since the "Harmonisation of mains voltages in Europe" 240 volts is now called 230 volts as it is with the tolerance limits allowed on a 230 volt supply! If you take your cooker to France it will probably be OK as as far as I know they are still on 220 volts (now called 230 volts!) Possibly the Chinese are not aware of this. In short your troubles have been caused by bureaucrats who are as thick as two short planks.

I bought a Halogen Oven 15 months ago. (Not JML) It stopped working. The guarantee only lasted 12 months but surely the item should have lasted longer than this.
They are excellent but everyone I know that has bought one has had the same problem. What is the solution? I do not know an electrician to repair it. I have tried they will not touch Halogen Ovens

You can get a lamp from either JML or e-bay or www.siliconemoulds.com.

But I would not suggest you replace it without electrical repair experience as it is not a simple job and involves quite a lot of disassembly (depending on make of cooker). It is also important to not touch the glass envelope with your fingers (use gloves) as only a small amount of grease from your skin will cause the lamp to go black and fail very rapidly!

After any electrical repair suitable safety testing should be performed (earth resistance and insulation tests).

Yes it is. Halogen light provides the heat source and must go on and off to maintain the required temperature which is set on the thermostat. Your electric oven does the same but, of course, the heating element is not visible.
The more worrying thing is when the light stays on all the time which means that the thermostat is stuck or something similar. In this instance the temparature would continue to rise and your food would be burnt. I suspect, but don't know, that there is some form of thermal fuse to protect the oven from bursting into flames. I mention this, not to scare you but to advise. I have had three of these ovens and each has developed the same fault. I bought my mother in law one too and she has had the same issue. I will be writing to Idealworld, where we got it, to advise.
Assuming they can get this righ, I would definitely buy another halogen oven. They make sound economic sense and the food tastes great
