How do I repair my RCA DVD player/recorder Model# DRC8295N?

My RCA player/recorder won't work. It sometimes will play a dvd for a few minutes, but then locks up, etc. A few times I have had to pry the door open to get the dvd out. Sometimes the disc won't even be recognized, I have tried cleaners. This even happens with brand new dvd's so I know it isn't a dirty or scratched dvd. It is also a vcr and I have never been able to copy my vhs tapes onto dvd's, which is the main reason for buying it.
