I have the same problem on my 04 zarira and was hoping to find a quick solution before the car goes back into Vauxhall. Vauxhall have said £ 650 for a new rear screen or a modification which disconnects the pane break sensors replacing them with internal resistors which is £ 200 I would be interested to know if Peter C's solution does the same thing

i have the same problem, alarm goes off within a few minutes of arming, i have been told its the rear window element being broken(open circuit)i found a gap in the element(this is also used for the heated rear screen) of about 1mm, and have tried to bridge it with foil, but no luck.if the l.e.d. in the hazard switch flashes when you lock the car with the remote, then theres a fault,(it should stay on constant for approx 10 sec whilst the alarm tests itself) then blink, alarm armed. not figured how to solve this but hope this info helps!!

Hi
It may be faulty wiring connections too the loop inlaid into the glass windows either side of the car. The two rear side windows have this loop in the glass and I have had two Zafiras that have had this problem.
To repair the problem is very difficult due too the position of the faulty connectors. The easiest way is too cut the two black wires in the compartments either side of the car just inside the tailgate behind the first aid kit on the near side and link the two black wires out (Do one side at a time as only one side may be faulty) This should fix the problem. To check that your car has this the rear window should have alarm in very small writing on the two rear windows. If you pick the wrong side just re-connect the wires.
Also the back-up battery for the power sounder can cause the alarm to go off intermittently, but this costs £90 so its worth trying the first solution. Best of luck.

What system did you use to check for faults?
You need to use dealer-level equipment such as
Tech 2 or Vaux-com to access the alarm activation history log.
Is the heated rear windscreen ok? The pane break system uses the heater element as the break sensor and a broken track on the screen element will cause a fault.
There are also pane break sensors in the rear side windows. Remove the panels below and check the resistance across the glass. If it's open circuit just join the two wires together if you dont want to fit a new window.
Is the car battery in good condition?

Disconnect the bonnet switch if there is one - all of the road gunge and salt tends to find its way onto this switch, which fails first. At least, thats what happens on Fords....
