how can i get my car cd to work?

my car stereo is not playing discs . what can i do to fix that.it used to play before then. apart from that all the radio stations function alright , its just that i cant get the disc to play. its for a cetroen xsara coupe and i still want to be able to use the steering wheels contorl fo operate the stereo.
