ford escort engine stabliser mounting?

on my 1998 escort finesse i have clutch judder when pulling away in 1st .i have looked under the car a seen that the stablising rod that goes from the gearbox along side the gear linkage rod goes into amounting rubber then connected to the body, if i change this will it cure the judder ,also the engine seems to hold onto the revs when pulling away in 1st then changing to 2nd, then 2nd to 3rd is more noticable any ideas
