how do I get the strimmer end of and put the blade end on to my petrol strimmer the drive shaft keeps turning not allowing the head to come off

Im trying to get a spare part for a spear and jackson strimmer as the curved metal shaft has stopped working and im looking to get the part does anyone know where to get them cheap or should i contact the spears and jackson company??????

hi i have an S&J SPJHT 26 (2007) petrol hedge trimmer the brake housing broke and now the petrol has turned a dark black colour any ideas ? has anyone in the north wales area have the same model so we can get the part of it please contact 01492 593906 thanks denis.

just used the castle gate stores mentioned in an earlier post and had excellant customer service. We brought a new bump knob as the plastic on the old one was worn. would reccomend Castle gate to everyone.

in pulling the cord it never went back and after stripping it back we found the spring that winds the cord bk has snapped in two does any one know were i can get a spare plz

Don't seem to be available for some S&J Strimmers -I've a S&J 500W Electric Grass trimmmer which needs a replacement Trimmer head- each time I attempted to enter my replacement needs on the site to which I was referred when I googled S&J I was disconnected from the site shortly after inputting S&J and the model number. Should have smelt a rat when the price in the Argos catalogue for a S&J tool seemed too good to be true -Bit sad when you can no longer trust a name that's had a good name since your childhood.Whoever owns the company now is probably trading on the goodwill built up when they were a reputable firm who took responsibility for their own products- will have to buy a few sheep!

The Spear & Jakson grass trimmer from Argos can be dismantled and you will need a 30mtr cutting line to replace existing.
Remove cutting gard, undue the locking screw( this will be tight and a pair of grips will be needed) remove locking srew philips.
Undue allen key bolt holding body of strimming head, pull head off. The bottom plastic bump screw can be unwound once the bottom cable holder has released from the top.
Once unscrewed undo line and replace with new, re-assemble as removed, the cost of a line is less than £10 to replace from spares £20.

The model number you have may relate to a model only sold through Argos, the same machine maybe sold elsewhere but with a different model code.

The grass trimmer head has failed on my SBC33N1, I'm considering returning it and buying a decent one from someone like Stihl or Husqvana!

I was wondring if any body knows if a metel cutting head can be fitted to the SPJGT 30. I have an allotment and I allso have trouble with the bump head haveing to keep stopping to pull the twine out.

arhh!!! was using my s&j strimmer when that bolt thing at the bottom came off...i have no idea about these things...again came argos but that bolt nut thing is not covered by the guarantee...help??

does the spool fit right inside the housing mine doesnt which allows grass to enter it seems shody to me also bump action dosent work even by hand its difficult i use strimmers and this is a joke you cant strim close because of thebig guard poor all around any takers

Recently bought a Spear & Jackson petrol grass trimmer from Argos. Cannot operate a curved shaft as well as a straight one. Contacted S & J enquiring if a straight lower shaft can be purchased and fitted. The answer was negative because they have no control over their trimmers as they are manufactured in China.

I'm having the same problem!! It seems that this model was marketed exclusively through Argos with the S&J badging used (I guess) to make mugs like us think that it would be reliable!!

What bits do you need? The most common faults seem to be engine related - mine has cracked a piston ring and now the ignition seems to have packed up. However, if you need mechanical bits, I might be able to cannibalism mine and then there is at least one working machine around!
