my hotpoint washing machine won't take in water?

I have checked all pipes, cleaned the filter and such but nothing happens, yet 2 hours before it went on the blink It worked fine. Machine still works and such just won't take in water??? Anyone any ideas as to how i can sort this?

Also this may be the problem, there is a welders bit under the machine that connects to the drum, this broke, could this be why the machine will not work?
