Mend Kenmore Refrigerator Cooling Repair

My fridge is only cooling to 42f or so...what could be wrong?

I have an old kenmore for my garage refrigerator. It is not cooling properly. My coils seem to be free of debree, etc. The freezer freezes to 32f and fridge to 42f. Is there something I can do to fix or should I chuck it and get another unit.

Sounds like it is getting low on gas. Usual signs are that fridge & freezer are not getting cold enough even if compressor runs for a long time & also compressor will get hotter than normal. If it is an old unit then getting it regassed will probably be uneconomical.

Its me again... in addition the "bowl" which I think is the compressor is very HOT to the touch..is this normal?
