I have a potterton flamingo rs50s gas boiler; the heat exchanger started leaking. The system has been drained down, and i have been told that no spares are now availaible. It seems that i will have to have to upgrade to all the new regulations,at a cost of £4000.It seems that half my home has to be altered to accommodate a just a new boiler. Is this correct?
£4,000 seems a bit steep for a 20Kw Boiler Change,
Must be Grittish Bas
Shop around the good independant Companies you should be looking at around £2,500

Spot on,british gas quote. Also saying gas pipe has to be upgraded to 22mm.Am i right in saying that this would only be needed if a combi was fitted ? thanks again,i guess no holiday this year.

Boiler last made in 1981 so no surprise that parts are obsolete.
I would guess a new boiler about £750
Fitter and mate for 5 days £750
Sundries, New Tank, Pipes, Pump, Timer, Flue kit, Control valve £750
Incidental material - making good holes in wall etc say £150
I make it around £2,400... More if you're having any rads replaced.
