Loss of power steering and a LOT of Smoke?

I was pulling away at a junction where I had to make a sharp turn, the adjoing road was almost back on myself. Something clunked very loudly and I lost power steering and a lot of somke poured out from somewhere between the front wheels? Any ideas and is this going to cost the earth? Thanks
