how do i replace gas strut on ford focus mk 1 hatchback?

Do you mean the strut on the tail gate?
If so support the tail gate and prise of the upper spring clip using a screw driver then pull the arm from the ball stud the same for the bottom.Refitting is a reversal proccedure.
