my home lite trimmer starts easily but when you take the choke or half choke off, it dies. help!

There are two screws on the carb. One is the air mixture, the other, connected to the throttle cable assembly, is the idle speed adjustment. When you turn it clockwise it increases the idle speed, when you turn it counter clockwise, the idle speed is lowered. Try increasing the idle speed. Good luck, Holly!
