oil boiler fault?

on a riello burner, it fires up until it reaches temperature then cuts out as normal, but when it attempts to fire back up it goes to lockout. when it locks out it just makes a buzzing sound. could it be the oil pump at fault?

Hi.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR OIL PUMP IS SEIZING UP AND RUNNING TIGHT WHEN ITS HOT? IF ITS A RIELLO RDB MODEL THIS IS IS VERY LIKELY THE CAUSE. (ASK YOUR ENGINEER FOR THE "G" RANGE REPLACEMENT), IF IT,S THE OLDER BURNER TYPE R40 IT COULD BE THE MOTOR OR CAPACITOR? EITHER WAY YOU NEED AN ENGINEER WITH THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT TO SORT THIS OUT.

Sounds like the Motor Capacitor is Faulty

Its a bit difficult to say really, as a buzzing sound can be caused by the spark electrodes not sparking where they should, the drive between the motor and the pump could be breaking down, or the motor itself may have difficulty starting up.....however it is strange that the boiler lights up from cold, so: see the grey coil with 3 wires on the top or side of the oil pump? This operates an internal valve in the oil pump and these break down quite often due to heat.
