I have 2 sky boxes at home - one is sky plus and one is normal. I wanted to buy a new sky plus box off ebay to replace the normal sky box but wondered will it still work with the old viewing card as the old card is not a sky plus card.
you will need a 2nd cable run from the dish for the box to work properly and you will also need to get the card activated for sky+ - if you dont have the 2nd cable it will still work if you plug the cable you have into input 1 but you wont be able to record a 2nd channel - good luck
