smoking and knocking diesel engine?

i have a 98 vauxhall monterey with a 3.1 isuzu diesel engine.there is white smoke and lod tapping noise when revved.i have overhauled injectors and changed fuel filter and oil and filter.any ideas

Try advancing the fuel injection timing a little,and check the result.
