HOW CAN I LOCATE THE HEATING ELEMENT IN MY WASHER?

davy mac thank you for your reply. i wonder if you could help me further.i agree it sounds like the heating element as you sugest. do you know if there is a heating element for the washer and one for the dryer or is there just one that covers both. if i was sat looking at the back of the washer would you know where it was located or if i was stood in front of the washer looking down at the top where would i find it. i am really pushed for cash as i have been forced to stop work because of my health so i would be looking to do the repair myself if i can sorry i will just remind you of my problem in case anyone else has any input. washer dryer hotpoint wd640 when using the dryer it goes through the full cycle but clothes are still wet. if i have to get an engineer how much do you think i should pay for part and repair. a ball park figure if you can thanks again look forward to any replies JOHN

John. The heating element for the wash and dryer are two different animals. If indeed the heating element for the dryer is gone, this can be a devil of a job for the uninitiated and I would advise getting an engineer in. I would assume, that including the part and labour, my best guesstimate would be in the ÂŁ100 department.
Sorry I couldn't be more help and more precise but I hope, although doubt that the cost will be less. However, Call at a domestic repair shop or arrange for an engineer to call, if only to confirm our diagnosis. At the shop the information will be free and if engineer calls, soley to diagnose and price the job, it should not be too costly.
It might give you the information to make a judgement on whether to repair or replace.
Hope you get sorted and health improves.
Good luck mate.
