timming for 425 nh square bailer?

Same as any other NH baler.
1. take out all hay.
2. trip knotter mechanism
3. turn over by hand (the correct direction).
4. needles should enter the chamber JUST BEHIND the hay dogs on the plunger. If it comes up earlier, the hay pushed by the plunger will snap off the needles.
5. continue through knotting cycle.
6. needles will retract from the chamber just as plunger goes by.
7. full needle retraction pulls safety latch out of the way JUST in time for the giant rotating rod to zip by.
8. slip the knotter drive chain one cog at a time until everything goes as above.
9. there are small dots of timing marks on the knotter clutch, but as a baler wears, they do not line up correctly, so time by needles entering the plunger just behind the dogs on the plunger. Best way.
10. Get a book, it will provide invaluable info on many adjustments.
