I'm unable to pry out the plastic covering and I don't see a bolt that can be loosened with an Allan key. Any ideas? On the plus side I have found the battery compartment.

Thanks.

Our Stratford cooker (can't say model number) has small battery compartment below oven door hinge, labelled 'BATTERY'.

It's quite easy to get it to work, just open the oven and look to the bottom left corner and you will see a small screw.you just need an alan key (or pliers) and unscrew. Then replace the battery pack with another, (kodak, energiser or duracell will do.) There is no need to touch the components. Close it try the ignition and hopefully it should work.

Wow thanks for the answers.

I just got sick of waiting forever for the gas to ignite. I've had my oven for more than 12years and thought it was at the back. The battery exp. date was March 2006 when I took it out!!!

Hahahaha, five years of sticking my head in the oven to light it and turns out the battery was missing! Must have fallen out when we moved!

Compartment bottom left of cooker under oven door, gently prize out plastic cover AA battery now enclosed!

Thanks for the advice, easy fix!

Hi and thank you for your help, Actually, my plate was secured with a 4mm allen bolt. easily removed with either an allen key or a pair of pliers then the plastic battery holder slides a little to the right and comes forward just enough for the battery to be removed and replaced. It just pops out of the back of the holder then pop the new battery in ( positive terminal to the right ) Once replaced, slide the holder back to the left to replace the small bolt.

Hi

Its really easy. if you look at the front of cooker left hand side below the oven door there is a small black covering just larger than an aa battery. Carefully prise it off and the battery is located on the rear of this plate.
