HOTPOINT FRIDGE FREEZER?

I can't understand how the freezer goes to -31 and top fridge to +18. On the sensors coloured in order from left to right ( yellow, green and white) when you remove the yellow the fan works, put it back in it stops. My head is getting battered with stress and wonder if anyone could help. Well please please help.
