HOw can I turn my Hoover washing machine on?

The start/pause button on my 6 month old machine is continuingly flashing & will not start. I thought it may be delay start so I have left it overnight. I have tried turning it off & on again but still flashes. If I hold button for a length of time the light goes off but the other buttons (spin speed, cold wash etc) flash. Please help.
