Mend Heating Hot Water

Heating / Hot Water ?

Hi there, I have a gravity fed Glowworm back boiler and I have to put the heating on in order to get hot water, when I turn the hot water switch on, the boiler does light but after 4 hours water is still cold, however if I put the heating on the water gets hot in 30 mins. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks Ian, will give that a go tonight........ I recentley had to drain the whole system due to a leak, could this have caused a blockage do you think?

Sounds like an air lock on the hot water circuit, have a look around the flow and return pipes at the cylinder and see if there's somewhere to bleed air out of the system. It may also possibly be the start of a blockage in the hot water pipework.
