save those little bags of dissacent you get in packages to keep them dry. Cut them open and begin saving the dissacent. Looks like colored rock salt. When needed as for drying cell phone bake in oven(450deg F) on an oven save glass or metal pan. It will be ready when white or colorless. Let cool in dry place. Put in air tight container with object to be dried. Don't mix with object, just in same sealed air space. The dissacent will absorb all moisture in a day or so. Dissacent can be dry by baking and reused.

I dropped my Samsung Solstice II in the toilet yesterday around 11 oclock a little more than 24 hours ago. I immediately took the battery and SIM card out.. the phone however, was still on. Soon after i placed the phone, SIM card, and battery in a container of dry rice. The once red water damage indicator began turning white again and light pink. It is still in the container of dry rice, and when the parts are all put together and the phone is plugged in it appears to be charging but when i try to turn it on it will not do anything. Hopefully another day in the dry rice will fix the problem.. suggestions, tips, or advice is WELCOMED! :)

I got my phone to work for the most part. I dropped it in the toilet(i knocked it off the counter, nothing was in the toilet) and i freaked out. I took the case off and dried it but didn't take out the battery. I did later, but i know i should have earlier. I tried the rice method for just about 10 hours and it seems to work.

So don't freak out if u didn't tend to it right away! It should still work out.

p.s. my phone now has a pink dot and x's, but it works. i just hope it doesn't start spazzing out again!

Take your phone aprt within 1-4 hours after what happened to it, and blast it with the hair dryer and make sure you keep the battery out as it will only flood the battery if so, and leave to dry untill the next morning

u will have to put it in rice. THe rice will absorb the remaining moisture in the phone. Leave the phone and battery in the rice. FOr a period of 24 hrs. Check back after that period it should work............................. do not i repeat do not use a blow dryer it will heat up your phone in the inside causing corrosion

I just ran my new LG Neon through the washer. As soon as I realized it, I immediately took it out and took it all apart. I left it apart for a day to dry out. Put it back together. It doesn't work. Now, all I got is a clean but broken phone. Paid for insurance, but it doesn't cover water damage!

take the battery out FAST! then dry your phone off with a towel or anything really. try to shake all the water out. then put it in rice at least over night. try plugging in in without the battery. if it works that way you need a new batttery. if it works with your battery your welcome ;)

If it was dropped in a hot tub...like mine...you should immediatly take out the battery. Then you should rinse the phone under your sink for a few seconds to rinse out the chlorine. Set the phone and battery behind a fan for a few hours so the moisture will be sucked out. Hope it works! It did for me!

you can take a cup full of dry rice and submerge your phone in the rice until completely covered and let it sit for a while. the rice soaks up all liquid in the phone and it should be as good as new when dried. if this doesn't work sorry but it has worked for me in the past and many of my friends.

take it apart, if it has been submerged in salt water then wet it in fresh water (swirl it around in it) then get a air compressor, blow it all dry re assemble then it should be fine..

Hi the phone I restored was dropped in sea water. I took out the bat and washed it in fresh water. I blew it dry with hair dryer then apllied a generous amount of CRC 2000 contact cleaner. I used a very fine toohbrush to slog it all in the tight spots. I applied a second flush and allowed it to dry overnight. The next day it powered on and displayed " TEST MODE" but that is as far as I could get. This method however has worked on other phones and pc boards in general. I hope this somehow helps someone.

Firstly...do not try to switch it on, if there is still water inside when you switch it on i could blow various components as water is a conductor so it will short out any pins on chips etc.. as sparky suggested dismantel it and allow to dry out, however, a few years ago I used to repair mobiles and could tell a water damaged phone as soon as it was opened, this was because there was a fungus type looking substanst all over the components, so it would be best to get some fluid for cleaning PCB's and give it a clean, reassemble it and it should be fine.

Tom

Dismantle in as many bits as poss and allow to dryout next to a heater gradually. When dry reassemble and test. If still faulty that will be the end of it and insurance claim.
