Mend Hotpoint WF250 60 Degree Wash

why does my Hotpoint WF250 smell of overheating?

When i try to do a 60 degree wash the program sticks and just smells of overheating and will not work. Yet when I do 50 degrees or lower it works fine. Can anyone suggest what we can do to fix this problem as it is a lovely machine other than the above.
