My approx 2 yr old Hotpoint Ultima CTD80 has started making a dreadfull noise that sounds a little like a loud rubbing noise. It is worsse at the beginning and the end of a revolution. There is no error code displayed. I regularly clean the filters and empty the water.
they have a inpeller inside is about 5inch dia its plastic and it rubs away on the spindle and becomes unbalanced and sounds like it going to blow up these inpellers are about ÂŁ5-6 hope this helps.

I had this with mine too - worked out it was a ptfe wheel at the front of the drum that had come away from it's fixing. Was able to fix it temporarily but really need a new wheel.

it could be your spider attached to the back of the inner drum or a bearing , the spider is made of cast iron and if the drum is overloaded it breaks and makes the drum unbalanced ,
