My newly memory card miniSD 2gb is now shoing in mobile & can't format?

I have purchased new MiniSd memoray card of 2gb and it is now showing in the mobile (new mobile). When checked through reader it formats but show message : " can not be formatted ". More over, another memory card miniSD of 512 mb is not formating it inspite of FAT and FAT32. Any soloution? Please guide or help me.
