Dead easy. Click off the hose/handle assembly (as though you were going to use the extension) and look at the housing on the main cleaner where the on/off button is located. You will see a small hole that seems to lead into the on/off button. Get a small screwdriver and just poke it into the hole whilst lifting up the on/off switch. You will be simply releasing a plastic catch that keeps the button on. Once the button is off, you will see a screw that releases the switch assembly. Get that off and out with the soldering iron, as without doubt, the wire/s have come loose through pulling the Dyson by the cable. This is a terrible design fault and Dyson know all about it and refuse to tell people how to get into the machine, preferring you to spend a fortune on their "service". You may have noticed a plastic disc (like a Polo mint) that is part of the cable assembly. Make sure you wrap the cable round it as this ia Dyson's "solution".
