how do i split the drum on a creda excel 1200?

i have to change the bearings on my mothers washer- i have the inner and outer drum out of the machine , the nut and pulley are off the back and i have hit the shaft many times to try and separate the inner drum from the outer but it wont move - any suggestions? thanks jp
