why won't it start?

Had my renault kangoo running like a dream and never had a problem, until now. I was driving around and all was well switched off engine tried to re-start but nothing. Lights on dash are on but will not tick over and there is a clicking noise from relay box. Also the speedo needle rises to about 40. PLEASE ANY HELP.
