how do you fix the motherboard on a nintendo ds?

my daughters ds was working fine,we had to change the shell because it got broken but it was working fine afterwards.all of a sudden it has just stopped working,i have tried charging it,the red light comes on for about a second but then goes off again,it just wont do anything.what could the problem be?
