I broke my computer?

I broke my computer today by knocking it flat on it's side. The hard drive fell onto the desk quite hard, this has happened a few times, about 3 or so. This time however the computerwill not turn on, if I boot it up the monitor will not display anything and sometimes the computer will turn off again in about 2-3 seconds. I'm not sure exactly what to do or if this is even the right place to ask. Currently I'm in an internet cafe and I urge people to respond ASAP.

Since this has happened before maybe it's a loose screw? But I don't think so.
I don't know what the other reason could be, when I knocked it over the monitor went blank and showed an orange light instead of the green one and pushing a button on the monitor brings up the image that it's in power savings mode, so I manually shut off the computer and attempted a reboot and this brings me to my current situation, I am under the impression the monitor is working just fine. It's the hard drive seems to be completely at fault , which is why I'm asking you. Any help at all, any suggestion even if you can only refer me elsewhere, will be fine.

Yes I checked to see if it was connected properly.

If it wont turn on at all then you realy do have a problem, when you power up the PC tap the "delete" key repeatedly, this should get you at least as far as BIOS. note hwever that diferent makers use diferent key to access BIOS. you can also try tapping the F10, F8 and F2 keys at powerup. if none of these keys got you into BIOS then its fair to assume that the motherboard or processor are goosed too. that is the time to consider a new PC.

You have broken your computer - it needs to see a doctor.

The expression Hard-Drive might mislead - the disk platters are hard and solid but the moving head mechanism is very delicate and does not respond well to repeated physical shocks...

I agree - your monitor screen is very probably OK

Good luck...
