Why doesn't the cd player in my peugeot work properly?

The philips cd player in my peugeot [the six-disc changer is in boot] sometimes shows no disc even if a disc is in and refuses to play. It only does this with copy cds not originals. Would it be because of the blank discs I use [even good brand one don't always work] or player or what? What can I do about it?
