I do not have an answer to this question but I do have exactly the same problem and exactly the same number of messages that I am unable to open. The problem started after a new piece of software was downloaded on Sunday evening to alow the library to place my recordings in a-z order. Since then I have not been able to record anything, pause or rewind TV and have lost all my recordings.  I live in North Wales and have just been part of the winter hill switch over with no problems. 
I have tried rebooting and retuning and the message I get on the screen is that I am unable to complete channel scan due to a weak signal for channel 16 (QVC). The channel works perfectly which makes a nonsense out of the message. Each Channel has the message undefined where you can usually find the date/time. 
Anyone who has the answer to this problem will get a high five.
