speedfight starting problems , son ate the chipped key !!!?

hmmmm, interesting case, ur son is very stupid, why would he eat a key?????

mmm the starter motor is right in the middle of the engine underneath on a sppedfight and it bolts to the left hand crankcase(transmission side) its sort of forward of the stand and is held on with 2 8mm headed hex bolts with 6mm threads.there should be two wires going to it one gren earth wire with a round terminal on the end and a red wire with a white tracer that has a square terminal on the end with a small 4mm or 5mm thread in it this bolts to the starter live pole and the earth wire goes onto one of the two 8mm hex bolts.i think this must be the cylindrical thing you can see they do play up alot though the starters that is.electrex are a good make dont worry.its also common for the primary coils to go down on these mopeds this can also be obtained through electrex.but i have had problems in the past with a red power wire that runs up the right hand side of the frame downtube at the front of the bike falling apart inside it has 3 wires joined inside the loom and they come apart with corrosion they feed the ignition so it will not start if this wire is disconnected ! better get he panels off lol.if you want more help post a new question to save me trawling the previous posts cheers mappy xmas too ,adam

Hey Adam , thanks for your reply.... im certain it is not the plug as i have had a spark check tool into the HT lead with no spark showing. I have reasonable mechanical knowledge being a Green flag roadside tech , however , bikes are something we dont really get so involved with... !! lol

So , this terminal... there is a cylindrical unit on the forward section of the transmission , lookin at it on my hands and knees from the right hand side of the bike , there was some form of ring terminal/fixing that is free ( not bolted to anything ) approx 1'oclock of the cylindrical item ,( im assuming this is the starter motor ??)

lol,the lights run off the stator coils so it will only work when the bike is running.have you tried a new plug in it as they give up easily its worth a try for £3.00.
is the new unchipped cdi from electrex ?ther speedfights need a good battery to run the ignition system so if its at all questionable renew it.also there is a round terminal earth wire that goes onto the top front transmission cover if this is loose or not connected a poor earth from engine to frame will cause loss of a spark too.check these and let me know

to add to my question if its relevant , i cant get headlamp to work either , could this be related , i just read some info about broken circuits in dash unit?? Please help , i dont have much hair as it is and cant afford to pull any more out !! thanks. :-(
