how do i send an email?

The format for mail (SMTP) addressing is

Username
At Symbol (this site will not permit use of the at symbol)
Domain name

Nobby.Clarke (AT) domain.co.uk for instance

A picture may be sent as an attachment - Insert File Attachment or dropped into the body of the message - select the picture - Type Control C - return to the message Type Control V.

Better to send as an attachment - you usually need to know where the picture is (which folder) before you insert it as a file attached to the message.
