How difficult is it to repair this problem of the cord and plug at the pug end becoming hot upon use. I have tried it in different sockets with the problem still occurring? Is it possible that the cord is defective on this newly purchased, refurbished model or perhaps a greater problem which would require the shipping and return of this toaster? If it is a simple repair, it may be less costly than the return shipping. Thanks.
The plug might make the cord hot but it's very unlkikely that the cord could make the plug hot.
I would guess that the plug has a high resistance contact in it somewhere - not much resistance perhaps just 2 Ohms perhaps - if the Toaster is taking say 6Amps then the heat generated at the "bad" contact point might be as much as 70Watts - that would heat up the plug quite quickly.
